Privacy

Your study belongs to you.

This policy explains the limited information Scripture Field Notes uses to provide accounts, saved studies, and Study Groups. Effective September 6, 2026.

Information we receive

When you continue with Google, Scripture Field Notes receives your Google account identifier, name, email address, and, when available, profile picture. We never receive your Google password.

When you save or share work, we store the study content you choose to save, your plans and reminders, Study Group membership, and contributions you deliberately add to a shared notebook. An unfinished active study is also saved in your browser so it can be recovered after a refresh; Bible photographs are excluded from that draft.

Bible-page photographs and AI study tools

Text recognition runs on your device. When a close photograph does not show a printed reference, Scripture Field Notes may send the extracted words and your selected translation to OpenAI to identify the likely verse; the photograph itself remains on your device. If you separately choose the optional cloud photo check, a resized image is sent to OpenAI for that request. Scripture Field Notes disables response storage and does not add the photograph to your saved Journey. Text questions and study requests may also be sent to OpenAI to produce the requested analysis.

How information is used

We use account information to keep your private Journey available across devices, identify your Study Group contributions, protect member-only group libraries, operate the service, and investigate problems. We do not sell personal information or use your private study notes for advertising.

Sharing and your choices

Your personal observations, reflections, and prayers stay private unless you deliberately include them in a shared study. A Study Group invitation shows basic group information, but only signed-in members can open its library and notebook.

Storage, security, and deletion

Account records and saved studies are stored in the infrastructure used to operate Scripture Field Notes. Login sessions use randomly generated tokens stored in hashed form. You can sign out at any time. To request a copy, correction, or deletion of your account data, contact the site owner through Hank’s Bible Study.

Services and changes

Scripture Field Notes uses Google Identity Services for account sign-in, OpenAI for optional AI-assisted features, and links to independent Bible-study resources. Those services have their own privacy practices. This notice may be updated as the beta grows; material changes will be reflected on this page.
